Eck Long Ago
Eck Industries' Original Building

Eck Industries, Inc.was founded by G. E. William Eck and outside investors in the spring of 1948.  The company was developed in a 7,200 square foot garage building, purchased from the Kasper Construction Company.  The first castings were produced in October 1948.

During the 1950s, the company made several building additions as well as adding to the green sand operations with dry sand molding and permanent molding.  The 1960s brought more building expansions and the acquisition of a die casting company located in Grafton, Wisconsin.  The 1970s included the addition of low pressure permanent mold capabilities and more building expansions.  In 1975, the company bought out the outside investors and became a family owned company with Robert W. Eck as President.

On July 1, 1984, Eck Industries was hit by a major fire that destroyed over 30% of the plant.  With the help and cooperation of Eck employees, architects, construction companies, and the state of Wisconsin, the plant was rebuilt and expanded with a minimum loss of production.  The company acquired a metal engineering and fabricating company in 1984, Consumers, Inc., which it continues to operate.  In addition to the fabricating capabilities, this company manufactures and distributes a line of above ground and in-ground automotive lifts.  In 1988, the die casting building was sold and the equipment was moved to the Manitowoc location to put all casting processes under central control.

Building additions continued in the 1990s with the addition of warehouse space and a new, enlarged permanent mold department.  Philip R. Eck became the President and Chief Executive Officer, as the company's ownership moved into the third generation.  In August 1998, an open house was held for all of Eck Industries employees and their families, suppliers, and customers to commemorate the company's 50 years in  business!
